CLERC-PKU Summer Chinese Language Program 2014-Jan. 20, 2014

Free Summer Chinese Program for Qualified ROTC Students--posted on Oct. 3, 2013
Dear Colleagues:
Below is a wonderful learning opportunity for your students. Please pass it on to them. Thank you very mcuh.
Free Summer Chinese Program for Qualified ROTC Students
Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), via Project Global Officer (Project GO), is offering qualified ROTC students nationwide a fully-funded summer Chinese program 2014.
Location of program: Beijing, China
Program dates: June 13-August 22, 2014.
Program Description:
Prerequisite: 24 credits of Chinese or 2 years of daily Chinese course by the end of spring semester 2014. Qualified ROTC students from Northern Arizona University (NAU) have priority consideration.
Instead of the traditional grammar and drill teaching, and staying in dorms/hotels, this program uses the Chinese language to teach 3 subject matters, as well as providing home stay. As a result of the design of the program, one should make great improvement in Chinese language as well as gaining subject and cultural knowledge.
Subject I: Cross-Culture Communications. In this subject, students will learn how to use communication strategies (verbal and non-verbal) to communicate with local Chinese residents. Since the whole program has a home stay setup, it is easy for students to practice the various strategies. Daily short journals, class discussions, homework, and a final paper will be part of the learning activities.
Subject II: Speech. In this subject, students will learn how to use outlines to make short and extended public speeches in Chinese to different audiences, how to deal with state fright, and how to poise oneself. Embry-Riddle Aeronautical University (ERAU), via Project Global Officer (Project GO), is offering qualified ROTC students nationwide a fully-funded summer Chinese program 2014.
Location of program: Beijing, China

Program Description:
Prerequisite: 24 credits of Chinese or 2 years of daily Chinese course by the end of spring semester 2014. Qualified ROTC students from Northern Arizona University (NAU) have priority consideration.
Instead of the traditional grammar and drill teaching, and staying in dorms/hotels, this program uses the Chinese language to teach 3 subject matters, as well as providing home stay. Since the whole program has a home stay setup, it is easy for students to practice the various strategies. Daily short journals, class discussions, homework, and a final paper will be part of the learning activities.
