汉字的演变可以分成甲骨文、金文、小篆、隶书、楷草行书和现今的简体字。汉字有部首、部件，有特有的书写规则和结构。The evolution of Hanzi (Chinese Characters) has been classified into the stages of Oracle Bone, Bronze Script, Lesser Seal, Clerical Script, Standard Script and Simplified Characters. Hanzi is composed by radical and components, and has unique writing rules and structures.

汉语的基本语法结构与英语非常相似，只是“时间”和“位置”两词放在最前面。在计数或指代名词时必须添加量词。Chinese has very similar basic grammatical structure as English except Time and Location words are placed in the front. Adding a Measure Word is required when counting or referring to a noun.
