The WUSTL-ALLEX Intensive Chinese and Japanese Institute will offer intensive beginning level classes in Japanese and Mandarin Chinese at Washington University in St. Louis for seven weeks this summer. Each class meets for 2 hours per day, 5 days a week for 7 weeks. The course is intensive and requires 3-5 hours of mandatory self-managed study per day.
This program is designed to train students to speak and listen to Chinese or Japanese, and to introduce students to reading and writing the language. At the end of the course students will be expected to perform in all four skills—speaking, listening, reading and writing—at a basic level of proficiency. Students will not only learn to speak the language; they will also develop an understanding of Chinese or Japanese interpersonal behavior. The ultimate goal is to teach students not just to speak Chinese or Japanese, but to function successfully in Chinese or Japanese culture—to present yourself as an intelligent person in the culture using the language. Students will learn to speak and perform correctly in a variety of social situations.

The National Security Language Initiative for Youth (NSLI-Y) program, sponsored by the U.S. Department of State, provides merit-based scholarships for eligible U.S. high school students to learn less commonly taught languages in summer and academic-year overseas immersion programs. Programs are available for Arabic, Chinese (Mandarin), Hindi, Korean, Persian (Tajiki), Russian and Turkish.

$300 Million Scholarship for Study in China Signals a New FocusBy KEITH BRADSHERHONG KONG — The private-equity tycoon Stephen A. Schwarzman, backed by an array of mostly Western blue-chip companies with interests in China, is creating a $300 million scholarship for study in China that he hopes will rival the Rhodes scholarshipin prestige and influence.
The program, whose endowment represents one of the largest single gifts to education in the world and one of the largest philanthropic gifts ever in China, was announced by Mr. Schwarzman in Beijing on Sunday.
The Schwarzman Scholars program will pay all expenses for 200 students each year from around the world for a one-year master’s program at Tsinghua University in Beijing.
The program’s creation underlines the tremendous importance of China and its market to Wall Street financiers and corporate leaders, who have become increasingly anxious as security and economic frictions grow between China and the West.
Mr. Schwarzman said his goal was to reduce such tensions by educating the world’s future leaders, but his role in the project will also raise his political profile in China, potentially giving him and his private equity firm, the Blackstone Group, increased access to Chinese leaders. Many of them, including Xi Jinping, who became president of China last month, attended Tsinghua, one of the country’s top universities.
Mr. Schwarzman said he was donating $100 million from his personal fortune, which Forbes estimated last month at $6.5 billion. He said he had raised $100 million from donors, and expected to raise the remaining $100 million by the end of this year.
Many of the donors have sprawling business interests in China and frequently deal with government regulators and state-owned enterprises that have wide discretion over the activities of foreign companies.
The donors include Boeing, which is aggressively marketing jets in China, the world’s second-largest aircraft market, and Caterpillar, which sells earth-moving equipment in what has become the world’s largest construction market. They also include JPMorgan Chase, Bank of America and Credit Suisse, which provide financial services to the Chinese government and state-owned banks.
The biggest donor after Mr. Schwarzman is BP, which produces and imports natural gas in China and also has joint venture chemical plants and other operations in the country.
The personal foundation of MayorMichael R. Bloombergof New York is also a donor. Mr. Bloomberg’s media company is trying to lease more news and data terminals to state-owned banks, but it has been stymied by the government since the company’s publication last year of an investigation into the financial dealings of Mr. Xi’s family.
The scholarship’s advisory board is a who’s who of investors, diplomats and other influential figures, some of whom also have political or financial ties to China. It includes three former secretaries of state, Condoleezza Rice, Colin L. Powelland Henry A. Kissinger; two former treasury secretaries, Robert E. Rubinand Henry M. Paulson Jr.; a number of university presidents and cultural figures, including the cellist Yo-Yo Ma; former President Nicolas Sarkozyof France; and the former prime ministers of three countries, Tony Blair of Britain, Kevin Rudd of Australia and Brian Mulroney of Canada.
Many large Western companies have been pressing for closer ties with China even as security experts warn about China’s military expansion and territorial claims, and many smaller businesses and labor groups warn that China seeks to dominate a wide range of industries.
Mr. Schwarzman said his concern was that as long as the Chinese economy grows two to three times as quickly as the American economy, and with European economies barely growing at all, tensions are likely only to rise.
“The idea was to deal with this problem in a generational manner,” he said in a video interview from New York, adding later in an e-mail, “I feel grateful to be able to have the resources to help change future leaders to impact their countries’ and China’s destinies.”
The program plans to take in 10,000 students over the next 50 years, forming an international network that can bridge differences between China and the West, he said. Forty-five percent will come from the United States, 20 percent from China, and 35 percent from Australia, Canada, Europe, Latin America and the rest of Asia. Africa may be added later.
The scholarship program will not be Mr. Schwarzman’s first major foray into China, where private equity firms like his have been trying to gain entry. In 2007, as he was preparing to take Blackstone public, he sold a $3 billion stake in the company to theChina Investment Corporation, the country’s giant sovereign wealth fund. The deal stirred controversy in China when the value of the stake plunged, along with most stocks, during the global financial crisis, drawing vehement criticism among some Chinese. Chinese leaders brushed off the concerns, and the stock has since nearly recovered when dividends are included.
Mr. Schwarzman said his scholarship program had nothing to do with Blackstone or the China Investment Corporation. “This is a private thing by me, it’s not a Blackstone initiative,” he said.
Mr. Schwarzman, 66, got his start at Donaldson, Lufkin & Jenrette, an investment bank later purchased by Credit Suisse. Except for a brief stint in the Army Reserve, he has spent most of his career at two Wall Street giants: Lehman Brothers, whose sale he led in 1984, and then Blackstone, where he is chairman and chief executive. On taking Blackstone public in 2007, he received $4.77 billion when his stake was converted to stock.
His name is also attached to the main branch of the New York Public Library on Fifth Avenue, which was renamed for him afterhe pledged $100 million in 2008, which he has since donated.
When it begins in 2016, the Schwarzman scholarship program will match the 111-year-old Rhodes in the number of students and the size of its endowment.
The Rhodes endowment is worth about $203 million, according to its trustees. It awards grants to 83 scholars a year, who typically study at Oxford for at least two years though some stay on to complete a doctorate, said Dr. John Hood, a former vice chancellor of Oxford who is the chairman of the Rhodes trustees. About 200 scholars are on stipend at any one time.
Cecil John Rhodes, a British colonialist who made a fortune in South African diamond mines, established the program in 1902 to bring scholars to his home country, the leading imperial power of the day. Mr. Schwarzman will be sending scholars largely from the industrialized world to study in a less-developed country that is seen as a rising world power.
The program will be housed in a new facility at Tsinghua, Schwarzman College. Ground breaking is scheduled for late this year, with a design by Robert A. M. Stern, dean of the Yale School of Architecture.
Students will live in pods of eight bedrooms with a common living room, a design taken from the executive education program at Harvard Business School. The building will also include 12 residential suites for the dean, director and visiting faculty; a two-story forum resembling the one at the Harvard Kennedy School; an auditorium; and four classrooms.
The program will offer master’s degrees in public policy, international relations, economics, business and, later, engineering. It will start each June with a summer-long immersion program in Chinese culture and issues, and an introduction to Mandarin, followed by a full academic year of courses at Tsinghua.
David Daokui Li, a prominent economist at Tsinghua who is the dean of the new scholars program, said the university already offers a third of its courses in English, and more than half in subjects like business and economics. Coincidentally, the ivy-garlanded Tsinghua University was founded in 1911 with foreign money: the United States chose not to accept part of the indemnities promised by China after the Boxer Rebellion, a nationalist uprising against foreigners that ended in 1901, and instead channeled the money to education.
While Mr. Schwarzman said that his main goal was to promote understanding between China and the rest of the world, he acknowledged another, more personal, motive.
When he was a senior at Yale in 1969, he was turned down for a Rhodes scholarship and advanced to finalist but did not win a two-year fellowship at Cambridge. He ended up going to Harvard Business School and Wall Street instead.
“I didn’t get any of those, and wanted one,” he said.
Now that he has created his own international scholarship program, he said, “Maybe even I might have been selected if I were back at Yale in 1969.”

Applicants shall be non-Chinese citizens in good health, aged between 16 and 35 (Chinese language teachers in post shall be aged below 45).

Scholarship for Students of MTCSOL
The scholarship is provided to outstanding students of Confucius Institutes (Classrooms), overseas local Chinese language teachers, outstanding performers on HSK exams, winners of the "Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competitions for Foreign College Students and for Foreign High School Students, and outstanding graduates of Chinese language across the world for taking the MTCSOL degree. The scholarship winner shall begin the study in autumn 2013, and the grant will cover two academic years. Applicants are required to have bachelor degrees or its equivalent with a score of at least 180 on the HSK (level 5) and a score of at least 50 on the HSKK (intermediate level), and make a written commitment stating that he/she will be engaged in Chinese language teaching for at least 5 years after graduation. Applicants with specific teaching posts arranged will be given admission priority (certification by the institution he/she will teach for is required). Hanban will provide support for outstanding graduates to return to their countries to teach.

Scholarship for Students of One-Academic-Year + MTCSOL
The scholarship is provided to Confucius Institute students from Africa and Latin America regions who would like to engage in the Chinese language teaching. Applicants shall sign agreements with the Confucius Institute or institutes to which they will be providing teaching services. Applicants are required to have bachelor degrees or its equivalent with a score of at least 180 on the HSK (level 3) and a score of at least 60 on the HSKK (primary level). Those who pass the first-academic-year assessment and score at least 180 on the HSK (level 5) can continue to study in China for the Master’s Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages. Hanban will provide support for graduates returning to their countries to teach Chinese language by recruiting them as local teachers and providing wage subsidies, etc.

The scholarship winner may choose to study majors including Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History and Chinese Philosophy. The time of entrance is autumn 2013 and the grant term is one academic year. Applicants should achieve a score of at least 180 on the HSK (level 3) and at least 60 on the HSKK (primary level), or complete their study at a Confucius Institute for over 120 hours.

Scholarship for One-Semester Students
The scholarship is provided to outstanding students of Confucius Institutes (Classrooms), winners of the “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competitions for Foreign College Students and for Foreign High School Students, overseas local Chinese language teachers, outstanding graduates of Chinese language across the world, and outstanding performers on the HSK. The scholarship winner may choose to study majors including Chinese Language and Literature, Chinese History and Chinese Philosophy. The time of entrance is autumn 2013 or spring 2014 and the grant term is one semester. Applicants should achieve a score of at least 120 on the HSK (level 2) and at least 40 on the HSKK (elementary level), or complete their study at a Confucius Institute for over 60 hours.
各类别奖学金优先资助具有HSK和HSKK成绩者。 “汉语桥”比赛来华复赛获奖选手按奖项规定内容办理入学申请手续。申请者若重复提交申请材料,则视为无效。
Applicants with HSK and HSKK scores will be given priority to all categories of scholarships. 二、奖学金资助内容及标准

孔子学院奖学金按资助内容包括:注册费、学费、基本教材费、一次性安置费、生活费,提供住宿、门诊医疗服务和来华留学生综合保险。其中,生活费标准是:一学期和一学年研修生人民币1400元/月;汉语国际教育专业硕士生人民币1700元/月。一次性安置费标准是:发给在华学习时间为一学年(含)以上者人民币1500元/人;发给在华学习时间为一学期者人民币1000元/人;录取前已在华学习半年以上者,不再发给一次性安置费。
Scholarship winners are exempt from registration fees, tuition, fees for basic learning materials, accommodation fees on campus, and are provided with a one-off resettlement subsidy, monthly allowance, outpatient medical service and comprehensive insurance for foreign students studying in China. Monthly allowances are at the following rates (CNY Yuan per month):
a. CNY 1,400 for One-Academic-Year Students and One-Semester Students.
b. CNY 1,700 for Master’s Degree Students.
The one-off resettlement subsidy is CNY 1,500 for students who will study in China for one academic year or more; CNY 1,000 will be provided to all students who studies in China for one semester; the one-off resettlement subsidy will not be provided to those who have studied in China for more than half a year before being enrolled.

1.自本办法发布之日起,申请者可登陆孔子学院奖学金网站(http://cis.chinese.cn)注册个人账号,查询接收院校及专业信息,在线填写、提交《孔子学院奖学金申请表》。
From the issue date of the Procedures, applicants should log on to the Confucius Institute Scholarship website at http://cis.chinese.cn, set up an individual account, read information and introduction of host institutes and majors, complete and submit the Confucius Institute Scholarship Application Form online.
2. 汉办委托各国孔子学院(独立设置的孔子课堂),有关海外汉语考试考点,中国驻外使(领)馆教育、文化处(组),接收院校和未建孔子学院国家的有关高等学校作为推荐机构,负责按招生要求审核属地申请者资格及申请材料,并于4月25日前将推荐名单汇总提交汉办。
Confucius Institutes (independently set-up Confucius Classrooms), overseas Chinese test centers, educational and cultural offices (sections) of Chinese embassies (consulates), host institutes and institutions of higher education in those countries with no Confucius Institutes are entrusted by Hanban as the recommending institutions. The recommending institutions shall exam the qualification and application materials of applicants, and submit the list of recommended applicants to Hanban by April 25th, 2013.
3. 接收院校负责审核申请者入学资格,并于5月25日前向汉办提交符合条件的奖学金留学生预录取名单。
Host institutes are responsible for reviewing the qualification of applicants and submitting the proposed enrollment name list of qualified candidates to Hanban by May 25th, 2013.
4.汉办将组织专家进行评审,对符合条件者择优录取。获奖者名单将于6月15日前在奖学金网站公布,同时通知接收院校和推荐机构,并由推荐机构通知申请者本人。
Hanban will organize an expert panel to make the final selection, and publish the name list of successful applicants on the Scholarship website by June 15th, 2013. Hanban will also inform the host institutes and the recommending institutions, which will inform the applicants.
5.接收院校须于7月1日前将《录取通知书》、《报到须知》、《外国留学人员来华签证申请表》(JW202表)等入学材料寄达推荐机构,由推荐机构转交申请者本人。
The host institutes will post “Admission Notice”, “Enrollment Instructions”, “Visa Application Form for Foreigners to Study in China" (JW202 Form) and other related materials to successful applicants through their recommending institutions by July 1st, 2013.

Reference Letter and Letter of Commitment. Students attending Chinese language programs of universities in countries with no Confucius Institutes established shall attach a reference letter signed and issued by the university President. The Master’s Degree Scholarship applicants are required to submit reference letters provided by two professors or associate professors (in Chinese or English). A written commitment stating that the applicant will be engaged in Chinese language teaching for at least 5 years after graduation (written in Chinese and sign with signature).
5.未满18周岁的申请者,须提交委托在华法定监护人的相关法律文件。
Applications under the age of 18 shall submit relevant legal documents of entrusted legal guardians in China.
6.“汉语桥”世界大、中学生中文比赛来华复赛获奖者须提供奖学金证书。各国分赛区优胜者须提供获奖证明和赛区主办单位出具的推荐函。
Winners of the finals of the “Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competitions for Foreign College Students and for Foreign High School Students in China shall submit the scholarship certificate. Winners of preliminary rounds of the “Chinese Bridge” Proficiency Competitions in their countries shall provide award proof and reference letter provided by the organizers.
7.在职汉语教师须提交就职机构出具的在职证明和推荐信。
Chinese language teachers shall submit certificate of employment and recommendation letters provided by institutes they work for.
8. 申请“一学年研修+汉语国际教育专业硕士”连读学习的,须提交与孔子学院或拟任教单位签订的协议。
Those applying for the Scholarship for Students of One-Academic-Year + Master's Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages are required to provide the agreement signed with the Confucius Institute or the institute which they will be working for.

五、入学及年度评审
V. Entrance and Annual Appraisal
1.奖学金获得者须根据接收院校规定按时到校报到。无故逾期未报到者,奖学金资格不予保留。
The scholarship winners shall register at the host institutes before the deadline set by the institutes. Scholarships will not be kept for those who do not register on time without reasonable cause.
2.入学体检不合格者,奖学金资格将被取消。
Scholarships will be canceled for those who cannot pass the health examination.
3.按照《孔子学院奖学金年度评审办法》的规定,汉语国际教育专业硕士须在入学后第一学年结束前参加年度评审,符合条件者方可继续享受下一年度奖学金。
Students for a Master’s degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages (MTCSOL) shall be subject to an annual appraisal organized by the host institutes before the end of the first school year after being enrolled according to the “Annual Appraisal Procedures for Confucius Institute Scholarship”. 招生类别及申请条件
I. Scholarship Category and Application Requirement
本年度奖学金招生类别是汉语国际教育专业硕士、一学年研修+汉语国际教育专业硕士、一学年研修生和一学期研修生。招生对象为非中国籍人士,身体健康,年龄一般在16至35周岁之间(在职汉语教师可放宽至45周岁)。
The category of scholarship of 2013 includes Scholarship for Students of Master's Degree in Teaching Chinese to Speakers of Other Languages(MTCSOL), Scholarship for Students of One-Academic-Year + MTCSOL, Scholarship for One-Academic-Year Students, and Scholarship for One-Semester Students. Applicants shall be non-Chinese citizens in good health, aged between 16 and 35 (Chinese language teachers in post shall be aged below 45).
1. 汉语国际教育专业硕士 向孔子学院(课堂)优秀学员,海外本土汉语教师、HSK考试成绩优秀者,“汉语桥”世界大、中学生中文比赛优胜者,各国大学中文专业优秀毕业生提供,入学时间为2013年秋季,资助期限为2学年。申请者应具有学士学位或相当学历,HSK成绩不低于五级180分、HSKK成绩不低于中级50分,同时书面承诺毕业后至少从事5年汉语教学工作。有具体任教意向者(须提供拟任教单位出具的证明)将被优先录取。汉办将为优秀毕业生回国任教提供支持。
Scholarship for Students of MTCSOL
The scholarship is provided to outstanding students of Confucius Institutes (Classrooms), overseas local Chinese language teachers, outstanding performers on HSK exams, winners of the "Chinese Bridge” Chinese Proficiency Competitions for Foreign College Students and for Foreign High School Students, and outstanding graduates of Chinese language across the world for taking the MTCSOL degree. The scholarship winner shall begin the study in autumn 2013, and the grant will cover two academic years. Applicants are required to have bachelor degrees or its equivalent with a score of at least 180 on the HSK (level 5) and a score of at least 50 on the HSKK (intermediate level), and make a written commitment stating that he/she will be engaged in Chinese language teaching for at least 5 years after graduation. Applicants with specific teaching posts arranged will be given admission priority (certification by the institution he/she will teach for is required). Hanban will provide support for outstanding graduates to return to their countries to teach.
2. 一学年研修+汉语国际教育专业硕士 向非洲和拉美地区有志于从事汉语教学工作的孔子学院学员提供。申请者须与孔子学院或拟任教单位签订协议,应具有学士学位或相当学历,HSK成绩不低于三级180分、HSKK成绩不低于初级60分;第一学年结束前通过年度评审且汉语能力取得HSK五级180分以上成绩者,可继续在华攻读汉语国际教育专业硕士学位。汉办将为毕业回国任教者提供支持,如,招聘为本土汉语教师并给予工资补贴等。

The 2014-2015 Fulbright U.S. Scholar Program core competition is now open.
The Fulbright Scholar Program offers teaching, research or combination teaching/research awards in over 125 countries for the 2014-2015 academic year. Opportunities are available for college and university faculty and administrators as well as for professionals, artists, journalists, scientists, lawyers, independent scholars and many others.
This year, there are over 50 awards available for those interested in East Asia and Pacific, and South and Central Asia Region Studies. Included are All Discipline awards, offered in all regions of the world welcome teaching and/or research proposals in any area of study, including interdisciplinary projects.
In order to meet the changing needs of academia and develop new options to better accommodate the interests and commitments of today’s scholars, the program has introduced several innovations to the 2014-2015 program, including: Fulbright Flex Awards, Fulbright Postdoctoral/Early Career Awards, Salary Stipend Supplements, and Teaching English as a Foreign Language Awards.

OVERALL PURPOSE OF THE PROGRAM:
To provide “hands on” training in research methodology alongside an experienced faculty member that will lead to an independent study on a research topic. This training will help define inductive and deductive reasoning skills, leading to independent thinking and the ability to a) recognize problems, b) ask the “right” questions, c) make the abstract concrete, d) generate possible solutions, e) recognize possible flaws in each solution, f) determine the best solutions through analysis of relevant variables, g) develop creativity skills in their discipline and h) consider the moral and ethical concerns of the research topic. The research experience is coupled with a high degree of interaction between all faculty and student participants, creating a rich interdisciplinary venue that brings focus to the meaning of being a lifelong scholar.
FELLOWSHIP STIPEND: $4000 + 50% on-campus housing allowance
Funds for incidentals (SUPPLIES, ATTENDING CONFERENCES, ETC): Up to $1000
Application Procedures and Requirements of the Student Fellow:
The QUIP-RS is an immersive, 8-week research and creative experience where you will work closely with your faculty mentor on a specific research project or creative endeavor. It is a full-time, 40 hours/week, daytime program which allows you to develop your scholarly skills. However, QUIP-RS is much more. In addition to working long hours and intensely on your project, you will meet weekly with other QUIP-RS fellows and faculty mentors, sharing your successes and failures, and discussing as an interdisciplinary team what it means to be a university scholar.
QUIP-RS participation requires a competitive application, so please pay close attention to the following application procedures and expectations/requirements.
1. Design a project (with a faculty mentor) that can be accomplished within the research period. The faculty mentor working with the student must be available during the entire 8 week research period as well. The proposal must be a collaborative effort shared by the student and faculty mentor.
2. If the experimental design involves the use of humans or animals, appropriate written approval must be obtained from the QU Human Experimentation Committee/IRB (contact Dr. Joe Woods) or Institutional Animal Care and Use Committee (contact Dr. Steve Carleton).
3. Submit completed application to Associate Dean Allan Smits as follows:
a. Application cover page (page 3 of this announcement): original copy, submitted as hard copy to BC135A.
b. Student and Faculty Affidavits: original copy, signed and dated and submitted as hard copies to BC135A.
c. A narrative (submitted electronically to [email protected]) describing the project (all pages double spaced), which must include:
· Section 1: Specific aims of the study/project, with hypothesis if appropriate (1 page limit)
· Section 2: Background to the study/project, with primary references (2 page limit)
· Section 3: Proposed methods and procedures to meet the specific aims (1 page limit)
· Section 4: Verification that the study/project can be accomplished with existing equipment/supplies or supplies purchased with fellowship funds (1/2 page limit)
· Detailed, itemized budget for supplementary supplies/equipment (if needed)
· Section 5: Estimated Timetable for Research progress (1 page limit)

Mandarin Language Enrichment Scholarship
- PurposeTo encourage international students (Mainland China, Hong Kong, Macao SAR students are not eligible) to undertake Huayu courses in the Republic of China (Taiwan); in order to provide them with opportunities to increase their understanding of Taiwanese culture and society, and to promote mutual understanding and interactions between Taiwan and the international community.
- Award ValueA Monthly stipend of 25,000 NTD.
- Durationa.Huayu Enrichment courses will include a summer term (June and July or July and August), along with short term classes, which may last 3, 6 or 9 months to a year respectively.
b.With the exception of the summer classes, in principle, the duration of the scholarship is from September 1st to August 31st of the following year. If recipients fail to come to Taiwan for enrollment during the designated time, they will forfeit their right to retain their scholarships.
c.Scholarship funding will become effective on the date of the recipient’s enrollment. Scholarship funding will end according to the scholarship’s expiration date or if the scholarship is revoked. - Available Scholarships The Ministry of Education will consult the annual budget and provide available openings for the next year to embassies, missions, representative offices and other overseas agencies authorized by the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before December 31st.

The Taiwan-United States Sister Relations Alliance (TUSA) is pleased to announce that ‘Ambassador’ Scholarships are again being offered to U.S. college students during the summer of 2013.
There is no requirement for proficiency in Chinese language... indeed, the program's aim is to provide opportunities to those who have not experienced a study-aboard program either in China or Taiwan, but are eager to pursue some overseas immersion Mandarin and cultural study. Accepted students will be enrolled in the Chinese Language Center at the National Cheng Kung University (NCKU,http://www.ncku.edu.tw ) in Tainan City, Taiwan. The University is recognized as one of the two top institutions of higher education in Taiwan. The application period ends on Feb. 15, 2013 for early acceptance and March 31, 2013 for general acceptance. Applications can be submitted on line at www.taiwanusalliance.com .
The 2013 TUSA program starts July 1 and ends August 23th. A stipend of NT $25,000 (US $800) per month for two months (July & August) will be awarded to each scholarship recipient. The scholarship is budgeted to cover tuition, dormitory fees, all program-related travel and excursions, and accident/outpatient health insurance. The program is sponsored by the Ministry of Education in Taiwan, and a total of 36 ‘Ambassador’ students will be accepted for the 2013 class. .
